Wanting to pursue a part-time study?

Have you read my preamble ? If you have not, I strongly suggest that you read it first.

Too many candidates jumped into part-time programs without knowing what and why they do so. As a result, they begin to complaint about how tight their schedules are with too much things to do within too little time. Work demands, family commitments, classes to attend, examinations preparations and assignment deadline closing in very fast were regular complaints that I have heard. Many will sigh by saying “I wish I have more time!

I have also observed candidates, absent from too many classes to a level of being barred from taking their examinations, penalised for handing their assignment past due dates and in a worst-case scenario, dropping out in the middle of the program. What a waste of time, effort and money!

If you are nodding your head, in agreement with what I have just written above, or you are facing the similar situation, I strongly suggest that you take a step back, reflect on what you are doing and begin with answering some of these BASIC questions:

  • Why do I go through this “mayhem”?
  • For what purpose & who does it serve?
  • Is this a lone battle or journey taken with many?
  • How do I learn? What is my preferred learning style?
  • Am I mentally and physically prepared for this effort?

The irony is that, no one will ask you these questions when you are signing up for the program. Most of the course counsellors or the programs marketers will speak highly of their programs and how their program is better than the competitors, while convincing you to fill up the application forms. You will only realise this once you have enrolled or started your studies!

Going through part-time studies is a daunting endeavour! Many at time, I have seen candidates giving up the journey half way through the program. Balancing the needs and expectations of the program, work, family and society need careful prioritisation and perseverance.

If you do not know, WHY you are doing this, start asking yourself why? Let your answer be your internal motivation guiding you to the desired mission. If you are doing this ALONE, start discussing your journey with your loved one, spouse and family members. They are the people you do not want to hurt and likewise, they do not want to see you hurt!

Knowing why you are doing this and letting others involve in your quest, will keep you motivated and harnesses the energy within you and those around you.

Believe you me, you will need it!

Reading this “awkening” note,I got little doubtful of wether i have chosen the appropriate path. But, after reviewing the decision i made to do this,I felt reassured. Thus, thank you for riging the bell!(excuse my informality toward the use of such expression, but i just felt like expressing my feeling).
I just could not figur out the closing sentence: (Believe you me, you will need it!).
unless the first part is “Believe me”.
I hope i am not sounded pedantic or rude,Just wanted to know what it was.
