Find yourself - Know who you are, your purpose and mission in life. Do a soul search.
Find your space – Find out what is the best time of day for you to learn. Different people learn best at different time such as early morning or late nights. Also, find out what is the most comfortable environment for you to learn. Some find it most relaxing doing their study in bed with their favourite music being played, while some may find a quite proper place such as library to be most comfortable. In either case, find out your preference.
Find a learning partner – learning in groups helps to expand the knowledge base, as you are able to tap the various views or perspectives on the same subject or topic. In addition, learning partners can also helps to motivate you when you are down and vice-versa.
Pace yourself – While doing a part-time study, you will feel that time is not on your side. They seem to move faster than usual. Therefore, pace yourself in attending lectures, tutorials, exams and assignment. If you fail to pace yourself, then be prepared to brace yourself against heavy and rough weather ahead of you.
Create own notes – Lecture notes, slides and any other materials given to you during the program were developed by the respective authors. Please be aware that those notes were written following their flow of thoughts and their comprehension. In order for you to retain the topics being discussed, must prepare your own notes using your own preferred tools and techniques such as mind maps, developing acronyms and metaphors and relativity.
Eat right – Stay on a healthy diet, on time with sufficient amount of exercises. You do not want to get sick during any of your study period.
Seek positive outlook – Finally, always have a positive outlook on things. In any problem lies an opportunity. Remain cool, calm and collected as what has happened is in the past. Let it go and move forward. In addition, avoid getting yourself entangled with people that have negative outlook on things and frequently discussing issues that are of no value added. Their negative aura will exhaust your positive energy quickly making it stressful for you. Always be in the realm of knowledge with people who are positive in their outlook.
Pray – I believe in the existence of the supreme power called GOD. Regardless of all the effort, faith has an important place in every living being. Always remember to seek God’s blessing in pursuing our noble intent.
